How to Copy a Video Link (Every Platform)

Every download starts with the right link. The share sheet changes slightly per app, and a few platforms use short links that need normalising. Here is the short version for each.

TikTok and Instagram

TikTok: Share → Copy link. Instagram: the paper-plane icon → Copy link (or the three dots on a post).

Short forms like vm.tiktok.com or instagram.com/reel/… both work; paste them as they are.

YouTube and X

YouTube: Share → Copy link. Shorts use the same action. X: Share → Copy link; links ending in /video/1 are fine.

Threads and Facebook

Threads: Share → Copy link. Facebook: Share → Copy link, or copy the address bar on the watch page.

Desktop

On a computer, the address bar is the simplest source. Remove tracking parameters after the video ID if a link looks unusually long.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my link look different from the video?

Share links can be short forms that redirect. Paste them anyway; the resolver normalises them.

Do I need to remove tracking parameters?

Usually not. If a link fails, stripping everything after the video ID is a good first step.

Can I copy a link on desktop without the app?

Yes. The address bar on the video page is the canonical link.
