About
A downloader that tells you the truth
DownloadTray is an independent, free browser tool for saving public videos from TikTok, Instagram, X and YouTube. It does not ask for an account and it does not pretend a failed link worked.
How a link becomes a file
The link is classified by host, then a resolver asks the platform for the media that public post exposes. When you press save, the file is streamed through the site to your browser. Nothing is stored on a server.
The file is saved as the platform serves it. There is no re-encoding, no upscaling and no overlay removal.
Why the error messages are specific
Most downloaders fail silently or return a random video. DownloadTray names the reason: private, deleted, live, age-restricted, region-locked or rate-limited. That is more useful than a fake success, even when the answer is “this one is not available”.
Independence
DownloadTray is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by TikTok, ByteDance, Instagram, Meta, X Corp, Threads, YouTube or Google. All intellectual property remains with the respective creators.
What it cannot do
- · Download private, deleted or login-only posts
- · Remove a watermark baked into the video pixels
- · Fetch a region-locked video from another region
- · Guarantee 4K: the resolver returns a standard stream
