Why Instagram Stories Cannot Be Downloaded Here
Stories are different from reels and posts: they are ephemeral, often visible only to followers, and require a session. That makes them out of scope for a public-link tool.
They are not public media
A story is tied to the viewer’s account and the creator’s audience settings. There is no public post URL that a resolver can fetch without a session.
What is supported
Public reels, video posts, photos and carousels. Paste the post link and DownloadTray lists the media the post exposes.
Do not use session-based tools
Tools that ask for your Instagram login to fetch stories are taking a session that can read your account. That is a security risk, not a feature.
Frequently asked questions
Can I download a story from a public account?
No. Stories still require a session even when the account is public.
What about highlights?
Highlights are archived stories and follow the same rule.
What can I download instead?
Public reels, posts, photos and carousels.
