How to Save an X (Twitter) Video on iPhone

The X app has no save-to-Photos button for other people’s videos. The browser route works the same way as for TikTok: copy the link, resolve it, save the file.

Copy the post link

  1. 1Open the post in the X app.
  2. 2Tap Share, then Copy link.
  3. 3A link ending in /video/1 is fine.

Resolve it in Safari

Open downloadtray.com in Safari, paste the link and press Download. DownloadTray normalises /video/1 links to the post URL and lists the MP4 the post exposes.

Avoid the in-app browser; it blocks file saves.

Save to Photos

Tap Save to device, then choose Save Video in the share sheet. If the file lands in Files, open it and share it to Photos.

Frequently asked questions

Why did the link end in /video/1?

That is X’s share form. DownloadTray converts it to the post URL before resolving.

Can I download private posts?

No. Only public posts are processed.

Does it work for GIFs?

Yes, when the post exposes the file.
